What to know before you start
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
Your text is measured entirely in your browser and is not sent to an external server. “Save These Settings” stores only the use-case name and character limit on your device; it does not save the text you entered.
How are characters counted?
The total count measures a JavaScript string by Unicode code point. “Excluding spaces and line breaks” removes spaces, tabs, line breaks, and other whitespace.
How are full-width and half-width characters classified?
ASCII characters and half-width katakana are classified as half-width; all other characters are classified as full-width. If your publishing platform uses its own conversion rules, please check its specifications as well.
What is included in the CSV and text reports?
Reports include the measurement date and time, use case, character limit, all character counts, the difference from the limit, your input text, and comparison results. If you download before entering any text, you will receive a ready-to-use template containing sample text.
