When to use a Pay by Invoice bill or a qualified invoice
Checking the amount due and checking a qualified tax invoice require different documents.
| What you need | Where to look | If you cannot find it |
|---|---|---|
| Buy now and pay later | Amazon Business Pay by Invoice eligibility and payment settings | Check the account, eligibility, your group's payment method and the product. |
| Save a qualified invoice | The qualified invoice issued for the order | Check the document menu in order history, the seller and issuance status. |
| Reconcile a Pay by Invoice amount | Pay by Invoice bills and transaction statements | Compare the billing period, returns and refunds with the administrator's records. |
| Check a gift card purchase | The gift card order and documents available for it | Keep it separate from standard product orders and check payment conditions and documents in the dedicated official guidance. |
Amazon Business guidance explains that Pay by Invoice bills and credit memos, receipts and delivery notes do not qualify as invoices under Japan's invoice system. Check the qualified invoice for the transaction rather than relying on the document title alone. Official guidance on Japan's invoice system
What to check before changing your payment method
The payment method alone cannot explain why a qualified invoice is missing. First check whether the seller is Amazon or a marketplace seller and whether documents have been issued for the order. Available documents may vary with the seller's registration status. This tool cannot determine the seller's registration status or confirm whether a document can be issued.
Buying an Amazon Gift Card and buying products with its balance
Selecting Amazon Gift Card as the product means you bought the card itself. Selecting a standard product with Amazon Gift Card as the payment method means you used your gift card balance to buy a product. Keeping these transactions separate helps you check Pay by Invoice eligibility and find the relevant documents.
Amazon Business Pay by Invoice generally excludes purchases such as gift cards and digital products. Corporate gift card purchase agreements have separate payment conditions and should be checked separately from standard Pay by Invoice. Check eligible products in the official Pay by Invoice guidance
