Arrange your names

See your print layout as you type.

Measure your actual envelope and enter its width and height. This tool creates a name-only print layout. It does not print the occasion heading or mizuhiki decorative cords. You can record the occasion in a preparation note.

1. Names and font

Up to 20 characters. Spaces appear as gaps between family and given names.

Fonts installed on your device are used. If a Kaisho or brush-style font is unavailable, the tool uses Mincho.

2. Envelope dimensions and name position

+ moves right; − moves left. Measured from the envelope center.

Distance from the top edge of the envelope.

Names are arranged from right to left, starting with Name ①.

3. Output and saved settings

The name strip is 35mm wide and matches the envelope height. Names are centered; the horizontal offset is not applied.

Work through preparation, one step at a time.

Resolve layout worries before you print.

Fine-tune the position to fit your envelope.

Set the actual envelope dimensions, the top of the names, and the horizontal offset in mm. Use the plain-paper outline and 100mm scale to check position and print scale separately.

Enter your envelope dimensions →

Use a name strip when the envelope is hard to feed.

Envelopes with mizuhiki cords or decorations may not be suitable for your printer. You can also print names on compatible plain paper and cut out a strip.

How to print names on noshi envelopes

Check on plain paper first. Print on the envelope afterward.

1

Measure your envelope and enter the names.

Measure the envelope's width and height, then enter names and choose a font. Multiple names run from right to left: Name ①, ②, then ③. Adjust the top position so the names do not overlap the mizuhiki cords or occasion heading.

Set names and actual dimensions →
2

Print a full-size test on A4 plain paper.

Select A4 paper, 100% scale or actual size, no margins, and no headers or footers. Measure the printed scale with a ruler to check that it is 100mm long, then place the envelope over the outline to check the name position.

Generate a test print guide →
3

Check compatibility, then print the names.

Check the official printer manual for supported envelope sizes, thicknesses, and feeding methods. Feed only compatible envelopes using the specified method. For decorated or unsupported envelopes, make a name strip using compatible paper.

Choose an envelope layout or name strip →

If the print position is off, check the scale first.

If the 100mm scale does not measure correctly, review “Fit to page,” reduction, and borderless enlargement settings before adjusting the position. Once the scale is correct, use a negative horizontal offset if the names print too far right, or reduce the top position if they print too low.

A paper size created in the browser may not automatically carry over to your printer. When printing directly on an envelope, also set a custom paper size with the same width and height in your print settings. Supported minimum sizes and paper thicknesses vary by printer model.

Frequently asked questions

What to know before printing.

Are names sent to a server?
Name entry, positioning, and file generation take place in your browser. This tool has no process that sends names externally. Device saves and JSON exports exclude names by default. Printable HTML includes the names, so take care when choosing where to save it or sharing it.
Can every printer print directly on these envelopes?
Compatibility depends on the printer model and envelope. Check the official manual for supported paper sizes, thicknesses, envelope compatibility, and feeding direction. If an envelope has mizuhiki cords, decorations, raised surfaces, or glued sections, do not force it through the printer; use a name strip instead. This tool does not automatically determine printer compatibility.
How are multiple names and character limits handled?
Up to 3 names are arranged from right to left, starting with Name ①, with their top edges aligned. Each name can contain up to 20 characters and is not automatically reduced in size. If a long name does not fit, adjust the character size and top position. Check naming and ordering conventions for the recipient and region.
Do envelope position settings also apply to name strips?
Name strips are 35mm wide and use the envelope height you enter. The top position, character size, and column gap carry over, but the horizontal offset is not applied; names are centered. If multiple names do not fit within the width, reduce the character size or column gap.
Can I print from a smartphone?
You can enter names and save files. Printing depends on your device, browser, and printer. If your smartphone's print dialog does not let you specify scale or paper size, open the saved HTML or settings JSON on a computer and make a test print.
Where are saved settings stored?
“Save settings on this device” stores settings in this browser's local storage. Export a JSON file to transfer them to another browser or restore them after deleting browser data. On a shared device, we recommend deleting saved settings after use.
What should I do after downloading?
Open the saved HTML file in a browser. You can switch between “Plain-paper guide,” “Envelope names,” and “Name strip.” Print the A4 plain-paper guide first and check the 100mm scale and name position. If adjustments are needed, return to this page and generate a new file.
Spend less time worrying about handwriting and move your preparations forward.

Once your names are arranged,

For weddings, funerals, and other ceremonial occasions. Save a guide and name strips with your entered names in one file.

Printing troubleshooting guide

This page cannot read or change your printer or driver settings. Compare your current settings with the official manual for your printer model.

  1. Size: Are the envelope's width and height within the supported range? Can you set a custom paper size? Do the print dialog and driver use the same dimensions?
  2. Thickness and shape: Does the envelope meet the supported paper thickness and envelope requirements? If it has mizuhiki cords, decorations, or raised surfaces, avoid direct feeding and use a name strip.
  3. Paper feeding: Check the manual for the specified tray, printable-side orientation, and edge to feed first. Do not rely only on the orientation shown on screen.
  4. Scale: Print the plain-paper guide on A4 at 100%, with no margins, headers, or footers. Measure the 100mm scale with a ruler.
  5. Feed errors and paper jams: Stop rather than repeatedly feeding the envelope, and check the official recovery instructions. If the envelope is unsupported, print a name strip on compatible plain paper.
