What You Can Do

Move from a price that “might sell”
to a price that sustains your business

Pricing on affordability alone can leave you without a profit even when sales are strong. Review each necessary cost and your target profit separately to create a price you can explain.

Compare Two Pricing Methods

View a markup on cost alongside a target margin calculated backward from the selling price, helping you avoid confusing markup with profit margin.

Make Decisions by Product Type

Get guidance on commonly overlooked costs and key pricing considerations for small-batch goods, food, resale products, digital products, and services.

Save History and Recalculate

Save pricing options on your device and restore them when material costs or hourly rates change. You can also export them as CSV files or print them.

How It Works

Build the rationale for your price in three steps

1

Enter the Product Type and Costs

Include more than materials: convert labor time, hourly rates, packaging, shipping, selling fees, and other expenses into per-unit amounts.

2

Compare Your Price with the Market

Review the cost-plus and target-margin prices. If either differs greatly from the market, reconsider the specifications, process, and sales method.

3

Save and Update Regularly

Save the result to your history or a CSV file, then recalculate from the same conditions whenever purchase costs, labor time, or fees change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About Product Pricing

What is the difference between a cost-plus price and a target-margin price?
A cost-plus price is calculated by adding a chosen percentage to the total cost. A target-margin price works backward from the percentage of the selling price you want to keep as profit. For example, adding a 30% markup to a ¥1,000 cost gives ¥1,300, while the price needed for a 30% profit margin is approximately ¥1,429.
Do I need to include the cost of my labor time?
Yes. If you treat your own labor as free, more orders may simply consume more of your time without providing adequate returns. Include all time required to deliver the product, such as production, inspection, packaging, and customer support.
What should I do if the calculated price is higher than the market price?
Do not immediately reduce your profit. First compare differences in quality, warranties, delivery time, included services, and sales channels. If you still cannot justify the gap, review your materials, processes, batch size, and selling fees, improve your cost structure, and then recalculate.
Is my saved input data sent anywhere?
No. Pricing history is stored only in your browser’s localStorage. Clearing your browser data will also delete that history, so save any results you want to keep as CSV files as well.
Can I use the calculated result as my selling price without changes?
The result is a starting point for evaluating your price. Make your final decision after considering business-specific factors such as tax treatment, return and waste rates, wholesale terms, advertising costs, demand, and brand value.
