Your policy. Your calculation.

Calculate PTO accrual and your balance after time off

Enter the numbers from your policy. Calculate PTO and PPTO separately. No conditions are assumed at the start; explanations use only the details you enter.

Updates automatically as you enter details
01 Your employment and policy
This is separate from any waiting period before you can use leave.
No name or employee ID needed. Eligibility is not determined automatically from employment type and length of service alone.
02 How is leave earned or granted?
Check whether your policy includes overtime or leave hours.
Enter your employer's accrual rate. No employer-specific defaults are provided.

This calculation applies leave earned first, then subtracts leave used. Compare with your pay statement if using leave during the period frees up room under a cap, or if carryover, expiration, or rounding applies.

03 Your balance and planned time off

Compare with your pay statement and spot differences

Record your estimated accrual using the current inputs and the actual hours earned for the same period and PTO category. Difference = actual − estimate. Up to 50 records are saved on this device.

Can't tell how your leave is growing from your pay statement? Look at eligible hours, accrual rates, and usage conditions separately to see what you need to check.

Calculate using your policy's method

Use hourly accrual or a lump-sum grant on a scheduled date. Choose the accrual rate unit to turn your policy's wording into a calculation.

See which conditions are missing

We do not assume, for example, that part-time employees are ineligible. If eligibility, waiting periods, or caps are unknown, those items stay on your question list.

Keep your pay statement comparisons handy

Save your calculation inputs and results as HTML, and export comparison history as CSV. Use them before speaking with HR or reviewing your next pay statement.

Get started in 3 steps.

1

Find the policy that applies to you

Check your employment type, length of service, work location, and whether you are calculating PTO or PPTO. If eligible hours or accrual rates are unknown, you can leave them blank.

2

Enter numbers for the same period

Enter eligible work hours, your balance before accrual, and planned leave hours. For example, if you earn 1 hour per 40 hours worked, 80 eligible work hours earn 2 hours before caps apply.

3

Compare with actual hours earned

Save your estimate and compare it with your pay statement. For example, a 24-hour balance plus 2 hours earned, followed by 8 hours used, leaves 18 hours. If numbers differ, check rounding, eligible hours, and posting dates.

Checking Walmart PTO and PPTO?

Check PTO and PPTO separately rather than combining them into one balance. Walmart's official guidance distinguishes regular PTO from Protected PTO. Applicable conditions need to be checked by work location, employment category, length of service, and other factors. This tool does not include built-in Walmart accrual rates.

  • Which accrual table applies to my work location, employment category, and years of service?
  • For PTO and PPTO separately, which hours count, when does accrual begin, and when can leave be used?
  • How are annual caps, balance caps, carryover, expiration, and request deadlines handled?
  • Which official policy explains absence protection conditions and how to submit a request?

PTO calculator FAQs

What is PTO? Is it the same as Japan's statutory annual paid leave?

PTO stands for Paid Time Off, a term for paid leave. The types of leave covered and the conditions for earning and using it depend on your employer and local policies. This calculator turns the policy details you enter into formulas. It does not determine statutory annual paid leave entitlements in Japan or assess legal rights.

Can my employment type and length of service determine eligibility?

Those details alone are not enough. Work location, job type, policy version, and waiting periods may also matter, so select accrual eligibility and usage availability based on what you have confirmed. If your length of service is below the months required before accrual starts, the calculation reflects that condition. Eligibility to use leave is handled separately from whether leave is earned.

Can I use this if I do not know my cap or accrual rate?

Yes. Unknown items appear on your question list. If the accrual rate is unknown, hours earned are not calculated. If caps are unknown, a reference figure before caps is shown separately from a confirmed accrual estimate. Blank fields are never treated as zero.

Why does the result differ from my pay statement?

Check eligible work hours, the pay period, your policy's accrual rate, annual caps, rounding, posting dates, and any leave used or expired during the period. Results display up to 2 decimal places; intermediate calculations are not rounded. Differences can occur if your employer calculates in minutes or uses different decimal precision. Record accrual for the same period and leave category in your history.

Can I calculate PTO and PPTO together?

This tool calculates one leave category at a time. Rates and usage conditions may differ, so switch categories and enter each separately. It does not calculate automatic use of PPTO to cover a PTO shortfall or determine how absences are treated. Check your employer's latest policy for those details.

Will my saved data be sent to my employer?

No. Calculations run in your browser. Settings saved with the save button and comparison history are stored in the browser's local storage. This HTML contains no process that sends your input values externally. There is no syncing or backup across devices, and clearing browser data deletes the saved information. Manage downloaded files on your device.

Can I request time off through this page?

This page does not submit requests to your employer or approve leave. Your balance after use is a calculated projection. To take leave, check your employer's request process, usage conditions, and approval procedures. There is also no notification subscription or account registration feature.
