Prepare to compare quotes with the same requirements
Moving home? Prepare matching requirements to compare quotes
Choose a service to prepare a quote request and checklist for providers. When quotes arrive, compare tax-inclusive totals, work scope and unanswered questions from up to 3 providers.
Start with a moving quote request template.
Save moving quote requestFree, with no registration required. Request details and quote amounts are processed only in your browser.
Packing, air conditioner removal and installation, unwanted item disposal. The request includes questions about which tasks are included in the total and which cost extra.
Fill in the preferred date, addresses and volume of belongings in the saved request, then send the same details to each provider.
Moving quote comparison
Blank templateCopy the details from each quote. Blank fields remain marked as “Unconfirmed”.
| Item to check | Provider A | Provider B | Provider C |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tax-inclusive total | Unconfirmed | Unconfirmed | Unconfirmed |
| Transport and materials breakdown | Unconfirmed | Unconfirmed | Unconfirmed |
| Packing and unpacking | Unconfirmed | Unconfirmed | Unconfirmed |
| Conditions for extra charges | Unconfirmed | Unconfirmed | Unconfirmed |
| Excluded work | Unconfirmed | Unconfirmed | Unconfirmed |
Quotes are not ranked by price alone. Compare the work scope and conditions for extra charges too.
Create a quote request to send to each provider
Enter your preferred dates and the work you need once to include them in a request with shared requirements. You can start with just the city or municipality for each address. Add street addresses and contact details to the request after checking who you will send it to.
Checklist before requesting quotes
Check each item once confirmed. Your checklist progress is included in the saved file.
Preview your request and questions
Empty fields are marked “Not entered; confirmation needed”. The template includes the questions to ask, so you can save it before filling in the fields.
This is a Markdown (.md) text file. Open it in a text editor such as Notepad and complete the blank fields before sending it to each provider.
Compare up to 3 providers using the same criteria
Enter the tax-inclusive total shown on each quote in Japanese yen. Tax is not added automatically if you enter a pre-tax amount. Leave unspecified terms blank and update them when a response arrives. Providers stay in the order you enter them.
A tax-inclusive total of 0 yen is shown as “0 yen”; a blank field is shown as “Unconfirmed”. Copy the final quoted amount, including discounts and overheads, rather than estimating the total from individual charges.
To create a PDF, select “Save as PDF” as the destination in the print dialog. Opening the print dialog alone does not save a PDF.
Save your progress and update it when responses arrive
Resume in this browser
Click “Save progress on this device” to store your current entries in this browser. Changes are not saved automatically. On a shared device, save to a file instead or delete the stored data when you finish.
Browser settings or clearing browsing data may remove saved entries. Export a file for reloading if you want to keep them longer.
Save a file to reload later
Save the requirements for each service, checklist progress and responses from 3 providers in a JSON file. Importing a file replaces your current entries with its contents. Export any entries you want to keep first.
Select a file exported from this page. It includes any addresses and amounts you entered. Check where you store it and who you share it with.
Start a new request
Clear the on-screen entries for all services and start again while keeping data saved on this device. Export a file first if you want to keep your current entries.
All on-screen requirements and quotes will be cleared.
What to check alongside the total when comparing quotes
Two quotes described as an “all-in package” may cover different work. First, give each provider the same location, quantities and preferred timing, then compare their responses. Record preliminary estimates made before a site visit separately from formal quotes issued after inspection.
Ask when extra charges apply and how much they cost
A response saying “extra charges may apply” is not enough to establish the final cost. Ask what triggers an extra charge, whether it is a fixed fee or a unit rate, and whose approval is required before work proceeds on site. For items confirmed after a site visit, ask the provider to state when they will be finalized so you can keep the comparison up to date.
Work scope that is easy to overlook for each service
- Moving: Check packing and unpacking, furniture disassembly and assembly, air conditioner removal and installation, unwanted item disposal, stair carries and carrying items from the parking area separately.
- House cleaning: Check the areas and floor space to be cleaned, what will be disassembled, surcharges for heavy dirt, parking fees and how stains that cannot be removed are handled.
- Air conditioner installation or replacement: Check the unit price, pipe length, drilling, electrical work, removal and disposal of the existing unit, and work at height separately.
- Home repairs or renovation: Check the work area, material product numbers, surface protection and waste disposal, substrate repairs, project duration and support after handover.
Distinguish “none” from no response
If a provider confirms there are no extra charges, enter something like “None (confirmed by provider)”. If they have not responded, leave the field blank. This table marks blank fields as unconfirmed and includes them in the follow-up questions.
Send every provider the same changes to your requirements
If your belongings or the scope of work changes, avoid comparing old quotes with revised ones. Update the shared requirements and save the request. After sending the changes to each provider, update the response date and quote version. Amounts in the comparison table do not guarantee the final contract price.
